COHFA is a coalition of grassroots organizations who have come together from every corner of Colorado to put the powerin the hands of renters by taking boldaction to advance renters’ protections. The Coalition is structured to uplift the leadership and voices of those who are directly impacted by the high cost of housing and unfair tenant conditions. COHFA knows that the way a policy is passed and whose voices are included in drafting solutions is just as important as the solutions themselves.
United in their fight for housing as a human right, the organizations that make up COHFA are building statewide power to secure affordable, sustainable, and community-centered housing for all Coloradans. We are building power to fight back against the corporate real estate industry and the broader corporate agenda that is harming working class people from every race and region across the state.
Position Description
The Coalition Organizer will work closely with the co-chairs andthe steering committee of COHFA to develop goals, strategies and processes for the coalition's campaigns, and lead the implementation of such plans. This individual will support the existing work of thecoalition’s sub-committees and ensure all coalition members have the tools, resources and support to build and organize their membership base in COHFA campaigns.
Based in the Denver Metro Area and has the ability to travel in the state as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Coalition Management
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with: Existing campaign partners, new campaign partners, allies, community members, elected officials, stakeholders, and leaders in the Housing Justice space
- Developing the capacity of table partners to participate effectively in the campaign
- Monitor and/or participate in governmental and public meetings and processes related to COHFA’s housing justice campaigns
- Represent COHFA in partner/coalition spaces
- Facilitate meetings and trainings as needed
- Work with Coalition Co-Chairs to draft agendas for COHFA meetings
- Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person COHFA events (sign-in sheets, childcare, interpretation, food, meeting space, materials, zoom, etc.)
Communications and Data Management
- Maintain and update database through Every Action
- Draft regular communication (ie. Emails) to our COHFA listserv in English and Spanish
- Draft action alerts and updates as needed
Administration
- Maintain basic administrative systems and structures for COHFA
- Meet regularly with Steering Committee to review progress on deliverables
- Supportgrant writing and reporting as needed
National Representative
- Represent COHFA in national Homes For All general assemblies, committees and trans-local committees
- Coordinate with national HFA around general assemblies both at local and national level
Qualifications:
Coalition and Team s
- At least 3 years of organizing experience working in labor, environment and/or social justice membership based organizations
- E xperience working in movement building politics and power building organizations
- Understanding of how to center racial, economic and gender justice in campaigns
- Ability to navigate and organize broad coalitions including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, labor, faith and community organizations
- Experience working in a high-stakes environment with multiple stakeholders
- A dvocacy campaign experience required
- Experience working with low income communities and communities of color
Management
- Demonstrated ability to manage an effective and diverse team that will build cohesive campaigns
- Ability to oversee campaign messaging and communications; field and membership mobilization and organizing; data collection and administration; earned and social media
- A professional, courteous and respectful disposition with all members of the coalition, staff and community members, along with the ability to represent the campaign to a variety of audiences and stakeholders
- Ability to support in the development of a sophisticated campaign plan that integrates both winning and developing leadership and infrastructure that will serve COHFA long-term
- Ability to hold deadlines, manage teams toward deadlines and communicate expectations clearly for team members
- History of working with a team of in-kinded staff, outside vendors, and consultants that support campaign objectives
- Ability to proactively anticipate operational issues and create solutions
- Understanding of Colorado politics and community engagement
Communication/Technolog y
- Ability to evaluate and implement online collaboration tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite for document creation and management.
- Ability to track and engage membership
- Familiarity with online community organizing tools such as Zoom, Google drive and Action Network
- Annual Salary range is $67,000 - $70,000 depending on experience
- 100% of premiums for family health, dental, and vision;

The Campaign Organizer must be available to work weekday evenings and occasional weekends. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
